Dancers one and all! Join us in this historic and wonderful dance hall!

We will be DJ-ing a Juneteenth set list at Russian Community Center on Capitol Hill on Weds June 19th at 7:30pm.

Doors open at 7pm.

Sliding scale $15-$25.

Set list begins just after 7:30pm and lasts 80 minutes.

If you’ve never been to a freestyle conscious dance, this is a great time to come and experience a twist: a flow of music all celebrating freedom, African roots, and African American artists from all eras.

We begin slow, rise to a peak, then come back down to a slow ending piece again. The only request is no talking/conversations on the dance floor. You have the chance to move YOUR way, as you are. No steps, no choreography, no memorizing of any kind. This is freestyle movement. You do not need to be a “good” dancer.

When the sun is out, it beams through our enormous, tall windows where we dance with trees year-round, and the sun streams across our dance hall floor making shadows.

What a joy to move freely, just be without inhibition or thought.

P.S. Jon is DJing a new ecstatic dance on the 4th Wednesday of the month at the Russian Community Center on Capitol Hill he’s named “The Five Elements”. We’ll be dancing to “earth” on May 22nd at 7:30pm.

Pretty easy parking on Saturday mornings. We will have all our usual toys, scarves, your dance cards (for those who have pre-purchased 11 dances for the price of 10) and our new and different huge variety set list.

The Russian Dance Hall has no lights, but we set the place up with gorgeous twinkly lights, starry lights on the ceiling, and a warm lowish-lit atmosphere for a fabulous dancing experience.

We’ll be back at our usual light-filled window-lit dance hall at Northgate on April 20th, 2024.

Monthly community lunch at Masala Indian Restaurant (buffet) is on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 after dance dance.

While we don’t post very often here on our website, we want you to know we’re thriving joyfully over at F2D2. Same location, same bat time, same bat dance hall.

Doors open 10am Saturdays. Music begins 10:15ish.

Always a fabulously mix of music with old favorites as well as brand new songs from all over the world.

Last Saturday in September is picnic day (or Masala Restaurant if its cold or raining). We eat together right after dance. For the picnic, bring blankets, chairs, your own cutlery if you have them (we’ll have a few on hand) and a dish to share, or simply your own picnic lunch.

Wow is dancing helpful on dark rainy days in December!

We are open Saturday December 24th 10:15am-Noon and also Saturday December 31st 10:15am-Noon (both at our usual times).

We will have our monthly lunch at Masala Indian Restaurant one block north of our dance on December 31st–the last day of the year. Come join us after dancing for the lunch special!

We are so happy to be back in the big dance hall again at Northgate Community Center, our home sweet home on Saturday mornings in Seattle at 10:00am.

The inspiration of dance is awesome. What a great community. Familiar faces, brand new ones, every single week.

December 31, 2022 we will head over to Masala Indian Restaurant after dance for a hearty lunch “special” (choose your own entree, they bring naan, soup, salad and dessert). Cost at Masala is approx $18/plate. Or just have chai tea with us, we love the community sharing and fun once a month at Masala.

Of course the set list had to include Earth, Wind and Fire today. We had a ball!

We love going out to Masala Indian Restaurant after dance on occasion for the fabulous buffet. Easy to grab a plate and fill it, and for everyone to make payment for the general lunch buffet. The people at Masala are super nice and always welcome us. Sometimes we’ve had 25 people at the restaurant! There’s always lots of room for everyone on Saturday after dance dance.

This month of February, we’re going on on Saturday, February 9th, 2019! Come to dance then we’ll walk over afterwards (it’s only one block away).
